The One Family Foundation

A brief description of its work:

 

INTRODUCTION

The One Family Foundation (TOFF) is a non-governmental child and Family Welfare and Developmental Organisation.  It seeks to provide protection and promotion of vulnerable children with the assistance of their family members and other key players in the community, where they live together as a supportive and co-existing extended family.  This organisation was founded by Professor R.P. Holten, an American citizen, together with some promising and development oriented youths, Joseph Massaquoi and Cyphas Williams, on the veranda of LAWCLA’s office in Makeni on 6th December 2006. The (TOFF/SL) philosophy is unique in principle and shall primarily instill in the tender hearts of the child: and the minds of parents/guardians in the extended family. The foundational ideals of hard-work, toil, honesty and integrity towards the attainment of our clearly defined Aims and Objectives - e.g. the overall growth and development of people - particularly the poor and needy child and family.              

 

OUR VISION

To ensure the village population/families are fully equipped with knowledge of social actions for thestrict advancement of human right protection and promotion.  TOFF shall continuously work so that the entire family community is in peace and unity for sustainable and progressive development

 

MISSION

TOFF is committed to make a difference in the lives of young people and the family through direct planning and advocacy, lobbying, monitoring, entertaining, educating and empowering the underprivileged families to reduce family and community vulnerability to abject poverty                   

 

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES

To develop a sound programme for community’s social development, making family community life more attractive and successful through economic opportunities. To ensure an ongoing practical actions by challenging the attitudes and practices of societies and men that lead to discrimination against women and children, and support actions directed to- wards protecting and promoting the rights of youths and children. To foster awareness raising campaigns and solidarity around family issues such as addressing women and children’s (girl child) rights to live free from physical violence and other forms of abuse . Increase opportunities and promote self independence for youths and families to gain greater economic freedom through the provision of life skill works and other employment opportunities Improving access to basic services including education, health service, information, shelter, clothing and income generating activities To advocate and lobby with stakeholders, government and the international community in order to support groups and organisations of women, youths, children, disabled and aged to come together thereby increasing their confidence in having their voices heard and also sup- port trainings so that they too can take up leadership positions.            

 

PARTNERSHIPS:

TOFF is a registered non-profit organisation working in collaboration with other organisations and line ministries such as Agriculture, Education, Social Welfare and Gender Affairs, MODEP, Local Government, and Youth groups like CPYA, OFSL and Hezbollah Islamic youth groups.
